Keebler and Gilbert Land Women’s Swimming Team Awards

13 swimmers were awarded letters for the 2019-20 season

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- Illinois Wesleyan University sophomore Ellen Gilbert (Northbrook, Ill.-Glenbrook North) was named the women's swimming and diving team's Most Valuable Swimmer, while freshman Anna Keebler (Verona, Wis.-Middleton) was named Most Improved Swimmer in the 2019-20 season. 

Gilbert was a two-time CCIW Swimmer of the Week selection this season. She was also named the league's Most Valuable Swimmer at the conference meet, the CCIW's Swimmer of the Year, and named to the 2019-20 College Swimming and Diving Association of America (CSCAA) All-America team. The Northbrook, Ill. product swam an IWU record-setting time of 55.62 in the 100 yard butterfly at the CCIW Championships, where she also posted three first-place individual finishes in the 500 yard freestyle (5:03.42), 100 yard butterfly (55.77), and 200 yard butterfly (2:02.71) to garner the CCIW Championship titles and All-CCIW honors. Gilbert was a key piece of the Titans' 800 yard freestyle relay team that claimed the CCIW's top spot with a time of 7:41.53.

She also swam season-best times of 26.02 in the 50 yard freestyle, 55.07 in the 100 yard freestyle, 1:58.89 in the 200 yard freestyle, 5:03.42 in the 500 yard freestyle, 10:54.71 in the 1000 yard freestyle, 18:17.42 in the 1650 yard freestyle, 27.46 in the 50 yard butterfly, 55.62 in the 100 yard butterfly, 2:02.71 in the 200 yard butterfly, 1:01.91 in the 100 yard backstroke, 2:17.12 in the 200 yard individual medley, and 4:47.77 in the 400 yard individual medley.

Gilbert qualified to compete in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly, as well as the 200 yard individual medley at the NCAA Division III National Championships prior to the season being halted due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Keebler, who showed improvement in each performance, garnered season-best times of 26.66 in the 50 yard freestyle, 57.35 in the 100 yard freestyle, 2:12.68 in the 200 yard freestyle, 5:51.25 in the 500 yard freestyle, 29.94 in the 50 yard backstroke, 1:01.91 in the 100 yard backstroke, 2:25.73 in the 200 yard backstroke, and 1:18.49 in the 100 yard breaststroke. 

The women's swimming and diving team posted a 4-3 overall record and finished third at the conference meet. 

Teresa Fish, who just completed her 25th season, awarded letters to 13 swimmers, 10 of whom will return next season. The letterwinners are:
