PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University swimming and diving teams notched its second individual champion of the weekend on day three of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship held at the RecPlex Aquatic Center Friday, Feb. 20.

Led by sophomore Isabella Cano's (River Grove, Il.-East Leyden) individual win, two Titans earned All-CCIW status. Cano, IWU's second event winner of the meet alongside senior Natalie Porter's (Danville, Ill.-Danville) 500-yard freestyle win on Thursday, was joined by freshman Abby Schnittker (Lombard, Ill.-Willowbrook) on the podium.

Entering the women's 100-yard butterfly championship heat with three swimmers, the Titans racked up points behind a one-two finish. After shaving nearly four seconds off her seed time in the prelims, Cano dropped another second to touch in for the win. She clocked a time of 59.87, just barely edging out Schnittker, who completed the one-two punch with a time of 59.90. Freshman Ellen Hoover (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville Central) took sixth with a personal-best 1:00.69.

The Green and White also saw two advance to the 'A' final in the women's 100-yard backstroke. Senior Kayleigh Kuschewski (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia) and junior Sam Borre (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James B. Conant) took fourth and fifth, respectively. Kuschewski clocked in at 1:01.01, while Borre was on her heels at 1:00.18.

Sophomore Tate Thomas (Joliet, Ill.-Joliet West) narrowly missed a top-three placement in the men's 200-yard freestyle with a season-best swim. Thomas came in more than a second under his preliminary time to take fourth at 1:42.98. On the women's side, Porter placed fifth with a time of 1:57.51, while junior Claire Paule (Godfrey, Ill.-Alton) and sophomore Julia Jozwiak (McHenry, Ill.-Wauconda) competed in the 'B' final. Paule won the consolation heat with a time of career-best 2:02.29, shaving two seconds from prelims. Jozwiak took second in the heat, 10th overall, with a time of 2:02.66 as she cut nearly four full seconds off her morning swim to notch a personal-best.

Senior Jay Jenkins (Aurora, Ill.-West Aurora), who swam a career-best 53.67 in prelims, posted a finals time of 54.04 to grab seventh-place.

A trio of sophomores tacked on top-15 finishes on the night. Jacob Nacional (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Bolingbrook) won the 'B' final of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.75. Caroline Stenger (Westlake, Ohio-Westlake) used a career-best time of 1:15.05 to finish 13th in the 100-yard backstroke and Ben Huk (Des Plaines, Ill.-Maine West) snagged 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke as he tapped the wall in 1:02.53.
