BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swimming and diving teams are scheduled to host Millikin University and North Central College for Senior Night Friday, Jan. 24 at Fort Natatorium. First swim is slated to begin at 6 p.m., while Senior Night festivities will begin at 5:50 p.m.
The Titans will honor seniors
Maddie Bollinger (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville HS),
Amber Gauthier (Battle Creek, Mich.-Pennfield HS), and
Annie Meyers (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West HS) on the women's team, while
Will Garcia (Mundelein, Ill.-Mundelein HS) and
Oscar Schmidt (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington HS) will be honored on the men's team ahead of their final home competition.
The women's swimming and diving team has been undefeated against the Big Blue and Cardinals since 2009. Just last season,
Ellen Gilbert (Northbrook, Ill.-Glenbrook North HS) claimed first-place finishes in the 100 yard freestyle and 200 yard individual medley with times of 54.49 and 2:16.56, respectively.
Megan Wong (Gurnee, Ill.-Warren Township HS) and
Laurin Ebert (Big Lake, Minn.-Big Lake HS) also posted victories to lead the Titans. Wong touched in at 1:59.95 in the 200 yard freestyle, while also earning second-place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.52. Ebert recorded a time of 11:19.61 in the 1000 yard freestyle to finish first.Â
On the men's side, IWU has seen plenty of success against Millikin and North Central over the past 10 years. The Titans have won eight straight duals against the Cardinals and are 9-1 versus the Big Blue over the past decade. Illinois Wesleyan fell to Millikin, 104-84, last season.
Mason McCauley (Deerfield, Ill.-Deerfield HS) turned a time of 1:50.91 in the 200 yard freestyle to claim a first-place finish.
Kyle Fox (Orland Park, Ill,-Carl Sandburg HS) also contributed a first-place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 48.31 to pace the Titans.
