BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University's men's and women's swimming and diving team is set to travel to Kenosha, Wis. to compete against Carthage College and the Illinois Institute of Technology Saturday, Nov. 16 with a 12 p.m. first swim. The meet will take place at Koenitzer Aquatic Center.
The Titans return to action for the first time since competing in the annual IWU Halloween Invitational, Oct. 26. There, IWU combined for 20 event wins between the men's and women's teams. Juniors
Lucy Saucedo (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville HS) and
Laurin Ebert (Big Lake, Minn.-Big Lake HS), sophomore
Ellen Gilbert (Northbrook, Ill.-Glenbrook North HS), as well as freshmen
Donna Kurek (Roselle, Ill.-Lake Park HS) and
Lauren Feddersen (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial HS) led the way for the Titans with first-place finishes for the women. Meanwhile, freshman Dillion Cherwin
(Huntley, Ill.-Huntley HS), sophomores
Mason McCauley (Deerfield, Ill.-Deerfield HS) and
Jackson Rapala (Roselle, Ill.-Lake Park HS), and senior
Will Garcia (Mundelein, Ill.-Mundelein HS) claimed first-place individual event times.
Just last season, the women's swimming and diving team clinched a 180-82 win over IIT but slipped to Carthage 186-94. Gilbert and
Scout Sanders (Granite Bay, Calif.-Granite Bay HS) tallied two event wins apiece.
Megan Wong (Gurnee, Ill.-Warren Township HS) added a solo win in the 200 individual medley.
On the men's side,
Mason McCauley (Deerfield, Ill.-Deerfield HS) was wrapped up first-place finishes in the 500 yard and 1000 yard freestyle events with times of 4:55.54 and 10:02.69 in losses to Illinois Tech and Carthage.
