BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball team travels to the Windy City for a Tuesday night showdown with No. 18 University of Chicago, Nov. 12. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

    IWU looks to build on a 78-71 season-opening win that saw three Titans reach double figures scoring. UC was victorious in its season opener, Nov. 10, besting No. 12 Texas-Dallas, 74-69.

BRAVO BROVELLI: Riley Brovelli turned in quite the performance in IWU's season-opening win at Governors State, Nov. 9. the Oglesby, Ill. native scored 11 points and added 11 rebounds en route to the first double-double of her career. 

SOSA'S START: Junior captain Kendall Sosa poured in a career-high 29 points in Illinois Wesleyan's season opener, Nov. 9. Sosa went 8-of-19 from the field and added 11 makes from the free throw line to reach her 29-point total. Sosa's performance is tied for the 17th-most points scored in a single game in program history and is the most since Maddie Merritt scored 29 against WashU, Nov. 25, 2018.

MEETINGS WITH THE MAROONS: Tuesday night's tilt will mark the 14th meeting between Illinois Wesleyan and Chicago. The Maroons hold the edge in the all-time series, 7-6, including a 77-76 win in last year's showdown. IWU had won the two meetings prior to the one-point loss.

OLD FACES, NEW PLACES: When the Titans and Maroons square off Tuesday night, Illinois Wesleyan fans will see a familiar face on the wrong bench. Second-year Chicago assistant coach Michelle Bilek graduated from IWU in 2013 following an outstanding career in which she helped the Titans to the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship. A captain as a senior, Bilek scored 426 points, grabbed 204 rebounds, and added 122 assists.

SCOUTING REPORT: Chicago is 1-0 on the year following a top-25 win over Texas-Dallas, Nov. 10, in its season opener. The Maroons return an All-University Athletic Association back court trio in seniors Taylor Lake, Mia Farrell, and Miranda Burt.
    UC was balanced in its season opener, as five Maroons reached double digits in scoring. Burt led the way with 16, while Grace Hynes chipped in 14 points. Farrell added 13 and Lake and Klaire Steffens tallied 10 points apiece. The Maroons held UT-Dallas to 2-of-20 shooting from three-point range and forced 20 turnovers on 15 steals.

ROAD WARRIORS: Illinois Wesleyan's season-opening eight-game roadtrip spans nearly a month. After opening up the season at Governors State, IWU heads to Chicago before playing in the St. Norbert Tipoff Tournament, Nov. 15-16. From there, the Titans return to Wisconsin for a clash with UW-Whitewater, Nov. 23. The Midwest Challenge hosted by WashU is on the docket following Thanksgiving, with IWU's CCIW opener at North Central closing out the lengthy roadtrip.

PLAY THE BEST TO BE THE BEST: As it has consistently done under Mia Smith, Illinois Wesleyan will face a tough non-conference schedule ahead of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play. In fact, IWU's schedule includes four teams ranked inside D3hoops.com's Preseason Top-25 in No. 7 Mary Hardin-Baylor, No. 14 Wheaton, No. 18 Chicago, and No. 24 WashU. 

ON THE HORIZON: IWU treks up to DePere, Wis. this weekend, Nov. 15-16, for the St. Norbert Tipoff Tournament. There, Illinois Wesleyan will take on UW-Stout Friday night, Nov. 15, at 5 p.m. before tangling with either St. Norbert or Calvin Saturday, Nov. 16.
