GREENWOOD, Ind. - Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball senior point guard Sawyer White (Downers Grove, Ill.-Montini Catholic) pulled in another accolade Wednesday, April 15, as she was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Second Team. With her selection, the program has had at least one honoree in each of the past three seasons.

White follows in the footsteps of Lauren Huber and Mallory Powers, who reeled in the prestigious honor last season. Huber was a first team pick, while Powers landed on the third team. Moreover, White is the ninth all-time honoree in program history joining the likes of Terri Friedman (1981 & 1982), Lexi Baltes (2014), Rebekah Ehresman (2018), Kendall Sosa (2021), Huber (2024 & 2025), and Powers (2025).

Furthermore, IWU's all-time Academic All-America list now sits at 179, which is top-25 across NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as top-10 in Division III. White joins Mason Funk (men's basketball) and Kannyn Boyd (women's volleyball) as the third Titan to receive the distinguished honor this academic year. A co-captain for the Titans, White holds a 3.95 grade point average as an elementary education major. She put together a strong senior season, resulting in Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention honors as well as First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection and earned D3hoops.com All-Region 8 Second Team status.

The Downers Grove, Ill. native averaged 13.4 points per game on 41.3 percent shooting. She was second on the team with 49 made three-pointers and tacked on a team-high 128 assists. White became the program's all-time steals leader with 111 in her final season, while swatting a team-high 21 shots. She posted 23 double-digit scoring performances, including a career-high 37-point effort against Carroll, Jan. 3. She collected the first double-double of her career with 17 points and a career-high 10 assists in IWU's regular season finale against Augustana, Feb. 21.

Illinois Wesleyan finished the season with a 23-6 record on the year. IWU shared the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season Championship with a 15-1 league record, but went on to claim the league's tournament title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
