BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2018-19 campaigns with a double dual meet against Division I Illinois State University and Division II Lewis University at IWU's Fort Natatorium on Friday, Oct. 26.
The Illinois Wesleyan men lost to Lewis, 213.5-66.5, and the IWU women fell to Lewis, 141.5-136.5. The Illinois State women, who broke six Fort Natatorium records, also defeated Illinois Wesleyan, 231-66, and Lewis, 216-77.
Senior
Lisa Cheng was a double-winner for Illinois Wesleyan, turning in a time of 24.83 in the 50 freestyle and winning the 100 freestyle in 53.71 seconds.
Sophomore
Nick Partipilo got third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.58 and junior
Will Garcia was third in the 500 freestyle (5:04.54).
A number of freshmen, swimming in their first collegiate meet, turned in top-three finishes for Illinois Wesleyan -
Kyle Fox got second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.55,
Ellen Gilbert placed third in the 200 butterfly in 2:16.75, and
Scout Sanders got a second place in the 100 backstroke with her time of 1:09.73 and placed third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:31.43.

The Illinois Wesleyan Halloween Invitational will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Fort Natatorium.
