BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan senior linebacker Jordan Hassan and junior defensive back Trevor Staley were named to the first- and second-teams, respectively, of the 2017 Associated Press Little All-America Division III football squads, announced on Dec. 14.

This fall, Hassan (Wheaton, Ill., Glenbard West HS) has been chosen to the first team of the American Football Coaches Association All-American team and was the D3football.com North Region defensive player of the year in addition to being the defensive player of the year in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
He helped the Titans win a share of the CCIW championship, recording 108 total tackles, 76 of them solo, breaking the school's season record of 72 set by Sean Garvey in 2014.
Hassan had 11 tackles for loss and five and a half sacks in the regular season.

Staley (Lake Zurich, Ill., HS) was also a D3football.com first team all-North Region selection as he finished third on the Titans with 56 total tackles, including 44 solo, with a team-leading three interceptions for 77 return yards.

The teams are presented in a partnership between the AP and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The AP began naming Little All America football teams in 1934, with no selections made during the war years of 1943 and 1944. In 1982 AP began naming a separate squad for NCAA Division I-AA schools, distinct from the Little All America selections from NCAA Divisions II and III plus NAIA schools.
