DECATUR, Ill. - Both Illinois Wesleyan swim teams defeated Millikin University and North Central College in double-dual action on Friday, Jan. 27 at McIntosh Pool. The IWU men defeated Millikin by a final score of
125-64 and North Central by a final of
137-39, while the IWU women defeated Millikin
125-54 and North Central
125-45. Each squad recorded eight first place finishes for the evening in rout to their respective victories.
IWU's first victory of the evening came in the men's 400 yard medley relay. The team of junior
Morgan Bishop, senior
Andrew Younger, and freshman
Oscar Schmidt and
Will Garcia finished with a time of 3:51.92. Garcia also won the 50 and 500 yard freestyle's with times of 23.32 and 4:51.56 respectively, both are season-bests. Younger was victorious in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:40.02.
The men's team of junior
Jordan Miller, freshman
Will Brinkmann, junior
Rob Houle, and senior
Ryan O'Toole won the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.44. Houle also took the individual 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.84, a career-best.
Illinois Wesleyan swept the 1650 yard freestyle's with victories from sophomore
Claire Michael and O'Toole. Michael finished with a time of 18:58.72 while O'Toole finished at 17:16.87. O'Toole also came up big in the 100 yard freestyle, taking first with a time of 52.60.
Sophomore
Lisa Cheng won two events on Saturday, taking first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.31 and in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.86.
Freshman
Annie Meyers earned her second first place finish of the season, winning the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:59.77.
Senior's
Meg Stanley and
Baylee Hoecker were each victorious in their respective events. Stanley won the 100 yard butterfly with a career-best time of 1:03.05 while Hoecker tackled the 100 yard freestyle in 56.40 seconds. Stanley and Hoecker were a part of the first-place finishing 200 yard freestyle relay team that finished with a time of 1:48.92, alongside senior
Savannah Feher and freshman
Maddie Bollinger.
Junior
Tori Tiberi won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:23.30, a season-best.
What's Next?
The Titans are back home on Saturday, Jan. 28 for a dual against Franklin College. The first event is set for 1 P.M. at IWU's Fort Natatorium.
