NCAA Division III Indoor Track National Championships Results

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Illinois Wesleyan senior Allie Boudreau won the pentathlon at the NCAA Division III indoor track national championships and the Titans are tied for second after day one on Friday, March 13, at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The Titans have 18 team points, tied with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and trailing only Wisconsin-Oshkosh with 24 points.

Ten of those points came from Boudreau's first place finish in the event she place sixth in at the 2014 meet. On Friday Boudreau amassed 3631 points as Melanie Winters of Baldwin Wallace finished second with 3581. Boudreau won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:17.33 and tied for first with a high jump of 5 feet-4 ½ inches. She was fifth in the shot put (35 feet-9 ¼ inches), eighth in the 60m hurdles (9.21 seconds) amd 13th in the long jump (16 feet-1 inches).

The other eight IWU points came from freshman Amelia Glueck, who finished second in the national long jump with a distance of 18 feet-9 ¾ inches.

Junior Nia Joiner qualified for the finals of the 60 meter dash, giving her a chance to defend her 2014 national championship. Joiner had a time of 7.58 seconds in Friday's qualifying, tying her school record set last season.

Sophomore Jamie Gradishar was ninth in the pole  vault with a height of 12 feet- 1 ½ inches. Junior Angela Herrmann finished 15th in the 200 meter dash qualifying with her time of 25.90 and was 16th in the 60 meter qualifying at 7.86 seconds. Sophomore Maddison Zimmer did not finish in the 400 meters qualifying and Joiner placed 12th in the long jump with her distance of 17 feet – ½ inches.

NCAA NOTES: The Illinois Wesleyan women's team was the NCAA Division III national indoor champion in 2008. The Titan women have placed fourth in 2010, 2009 and 2006; sixth in 2004 and 2011; seventh in 2012; eighth in 2000; 10th in 2007; tied for 14th in 2014; and 17th in 2013.
