Illinois Wesleyan Swim Teams Lose Duals at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost dual meets at Carthage on Saturday (Nov. 12). The women fell, 156-106, while the men lost by a 137-96 score.

The IWU women had four individual winners and claimed the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:45.10.
Seniors Angela Lugg and Andrea Peterson were double winners. Lugg took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.36 and her time of 5:16.35 was good enough to win the 500 yard freestyle.

Peterson got first in both the 100 yard backstroke (59.21 seconds) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:09.61).

Sophomore Lizzie Egan was the winner in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.96 and junior Katie McHugh won the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 2:13.94.

For the Titan men, senior Mikey Firth was a double event winner, taking the honors in the 100 yard backstroke in 52.27 seconds and the 200 yard individual medley in 2:02.62.

The Titan teams are back in action next Saturday (Nov. 19), hosting the IWU Invitational. Diving events get underway at 10 a.m. with the swimming portion of the meet beginning at 1 p.m. at Fort Natatorium.
