Women Win, Men Lose to Rose-Hulman in Swimming

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's swim team defeated Rose-Hulman, 226-59, while the Titan men's team lost to the Engineers, 176.5-109.5 on Oct. 30 at Fort Natatorium.

Junior Andrea Peterson was a triple winner for IWU, taking the 50 freestyle (26.77 seconds), 100 butterfly (1:02.90) and the 200 yard individual medley (2:18.57).

Junior Angela Lugg (100 free, 1000 free), freshman Lizzie Egan (200 free, 200 breaststroke), sophomore Kate Haynes (100 and 200 backstroke), and senior Lindsey DeSutter (1- and 3-meter diving) were all double winners for the women.

Sophomore Brent Caras was a double winner, taking the 100 free (50.23) and 200 free (1:52.18), as well as junior Mikey Firth in the 100 (54.50) and 200 backstroke (2:00.77).

Firth and Caras were joined by Tommy Gilbert and Kendall Held to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:30.9 and

Juniors Katie Bell (100 breaststroke) and Melissa Bittner (200 butterfly) and sophomore Katie McHugh (500 free) were winners for the women and freshman Marcus Duval won the 200 individual medley.

Peterson, Egan and McHugh were joined by Lia Anderson to win the 200 medley relay and McHugh, Anderson, Lugg and freshman Gracie Nafziger won the 200 free relay.
