Senior co-captain Alex Garvey has earned two letters in football and was named in 2013 to the second team of the 25th annual USA College Football Pre-Season Division III All-American squads.
In 2012 he was a second team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin wide receiver and was IWU's "Offensive MVP" and the team's "Best Skill" award winner as he had 50 catches for 751 yards and 10 touchdowns.
A business major at Illinois Wesleyan, he is the son of Jim and Monica Garvey.


Why you chose Illinois Wesleyan:  I chose Illinois Wesleyan because of its strong academic and athletic history.

IWU class you’re most qualified to teach:  Zen  

The hardest challenge about being a Division III student-athlete is:  Keeping away all the jersey chasers.

Worst grade in a class you ever got – what and when?  C+, in Short Stories.  It is harder then it sounds.

I’m deathly afraid of ... :  Being buried alive.  

Worst habit:  Not washing my dishes.  

Most expensive traffic ticket:  $135

Language I’d like to learn:  Sign Language 

The longest I could survive without my cell phone: Until I die.

One word your mother or father would use to describe you: Precious 

Favorite sports figures:  MJ, RGIII, Anderson Varejao

My greatest moment in sports was: Switching from playing soccer to football.  

The best player I ever faced was:  Rashard Mendenhall, in basketball.

Worst dresser on my team: Paul Panno, cause his shorts are always too short.

Thing that’s been in my fridge the longest:  The shelves      

Person I’m dying to have dinner with:  Natalie Portman

Favorite food:  Chicken 

Vegetable I won’t eat:  Cauliflower

Pepsi or Coke? Neither

Favorite TV show:  “Game of Thrones” 

Favorite musical group:  Jackson 5  

Favorite movie: "Heavyweights"       

If a movie were made of my life, I would like the following person to play me:  Will Smith

If my life were on TV as a reality show, I’d call it: “Going Off The Rails On A Gravy Train”

The person in history I would most like to meet is:  Benjamin Franklin  

My dream job would be: Playing in the NFL

Place I’d most like to live: Chicago or California  

Two things that are tops on my “bucket list”:  Sky dive and ride an elephant

My possession that would fetch the most on eBay:  My Beanie Baby collection  

Who is the luckiest person in the world?  Whoever is dating Natalie Portman.          

What I miss most about being in the third grade:  Recess
