Senior Katie Bruins is a three-time softball letterwinner at Illinois Wesleyan and was co-captain of the 2012 team. She has a 14-5 career pitching record and struck out 13 Fontbonne batters in a game as a sophomore. In her first three seasons she also has four doubles, four homers and 22 runs batted in.
An accounting major at Illinois Wesleyan, she is the daughter of Tim and Jane Bruins of Ballwin, Mo.


Why you chose Illinois Wesleyan: I liked the small size and my overnight visit was great.

IWU class you’re most qualified to teach: Accounting 1 ... at least I hope I can teach that by now.

The hardest challenge about being a Division III student-athlete is: Balancing your time.

Worst grade in a class you ever got – what and when? Freshman year economics. Worst thing ever. Can't even say the grade.

I’m deathly afraid of ... : Ants.

Worst habit: I drink way too much soda.

Most expensive traffic ticket: Never had one!

Language I’d like to learn: That’s a good question. I have no idea, anything really, I am terrible at learning other languages.

The longest I could survive without my cell phone: .1 second literally!

Your usual response to “What’s going on?”: Not too much.  How about you?

Favorite sports figure: Michael Phelps

My greatest moment in sports was: Winning districts in high school

Worst dresser on my team: We all look pretty good.

Person I’m dying to have dinner with: Channing Tatum, just so I can stare at him

Favorite food: Sushi

Vegetable I won’t eat: Turnips. No, thank you.

Pepsi or Coke?: Diet Pepsi

Favorite TV show: "Revenge". Best show ever.

Favorite movie: The Princess Diaries

If a movie were made of my life, I would like the following person to play me: Mila Kunis

My dream job would be: Partner at accounting firm

Place I’d most like to live: Huntington Beach, California

Two things that are tops on my “bucket list”: Going to Greece and learning how to surf.

My possession that would fetch the most on eBay: My pearls

What I miss most about being in the third grade: My teacher…Mrs. DePlanty she was awesome.  And gel pens, those were the coolest.
