Women’s Golf Closes Final Round of Redbird Invitational

Fagan cards 54-hole low 224, Ocheltree places top-20

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team closed its first tournament of the year with a final round 17-over par, 305 at the Redbird Invitational, Monday Sept. 14. The Titans put together their best round of the tournament totaling 930 and an 11th-place finish at Weibring Golf Course.

St. Thomas finished off its wire-to-wire victory with a final day nine-over par 297. Augusta put together the round of the day with a two-over par 290, finishing two strokes off the Tommies. Tournament hosts, Illinois State University, slid into the third spot with a final round 293. The Green and White topped two Division I teams in Northern Iowa and Evansville.

Junior Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) turned in one-of-three under par rounds on the day with a one-under 71. The junior fueled her round with four birdies at the windy Weibring Golf Course. Fagan's 226 tournament total is a career low in a 54-hole tournament, bettering her score from last year's Redbird Invitational. Freshman Natalie Ocheltree (Normal, Ill.-University) recorded a top-20 finish in her first collegiate tournament with a final day four-over par 76 to take home a share of 16th.

Illinois Wesleyan is back in action Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 19-20, as it hosts the 17-team IWU Fall Classic at Ironwood Golf Course.
