NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Dave Wrath Academic All-Conference Winter List released by the league office Monday, April 27, included 65 Illinois Wesleyan University student-athletes. Junior Mason Funk (Normal, Ill.-University High) and senior Sawyer White (Downers Grove, Ill.-Montini Catholic) were named IWU's Jack Swartz Award recipients.

The CCIW Dave Wrath Academic All-Conference list comprises those individuals who achieved an overall grade-point average of 3.30 or above and be at least a sophomore academically.

Additionally, the CCIW announced all of the recipients of the Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award. Each CCIW member institution selects two student-athletes (one male & one female) from each of the three sports seasons (fall, winter, spring) to be honored as Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference members. To be eligible, an individual must be at least a sophomore academically and have an overall grade point average of 3.50. The duo joins Sam Kedzior (men's soccer) and Adriana Crabtree (cross country) who earned Swartz selections this past fall.

Funk put together a breakout season this winter, resulting in a long list of accolades for the local product. He was voted a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-America selection, a D3hoops.com Fifth Team All-American, a Josten's Trophy Finalist, D3hoops.com All-Region, and First Team All-CCIW. Funk, who holds a 3.95 grade point average as a biology major, the junior averaged 15.9 points alongside 6.5 rebounds per game. The top defensive player in the CCIW, Funk finished with 73 rejections and 54 steals, while adding 72 assists. His 73 swats are the second-most in IWU single-season history and stand as the seventh-most nationally. He totaled 20+ points in 10 games and racked up three 30-point showings.

White, an elementary education major with a 3.95 GPA, closed out a sensational career on the hardwood this past winter. A Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention, White scored a career-high 390 points, averaging 13.4 points per game. She hauled in a team-best 111 steals as she broke the IWU career steals record and moved into second on the all-time CCIW list. A unanimous First Team All-CCIW pick, White was voted D3hoops.com Second Team All-Region 8 and a CSC Second Team Academic All-America pick. She also hauled in CCIW Player of the Week and D3hoops Team of the Week honors throughout the season. White's stat line included team-leading marks of 128 assists and 21 blocks. She shot 41.3 percent from the floor, 33.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 79.7 percent at the free throw line. Nationally, White she was top-20 in both steals and assists.
