NAPERVILLE, Ill. - An impressive week from sophomore AJ Weller (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) of the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team earned him his second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week honor of the season, announced by the league office Monday, April 27.

Weller helped Illinois Wesleyan to a 3-1 week and benefited with a 10-for-17 (.588) showing, displaying his strong skill set, completing the cycle over the four-game slate. The lefty shortstop hit for power with a 1.143 slugging percentage on a home run, three doubles, a triple, and added five singles. He scored a team-high seven runs over the span, with four walks.

The first-year Titan, who transferred from Illinois State University prior to the season, started his week reaching base three times against Wheaton College Tuesday, April 21, and followed the next day with a three-hit showing against Illinois College. He fell a triple shy of the cycle in the back-and-fourth battle with the Blueboys, as he blasted his third long ball of the year, and drove in a trio of runs. Weller wrapped up his week, carding a career-high five-hit outing against Augustana College Saturday, April 25. In the game one win, he recorded two RBI's, with a double and triple, this time falling a home run shy of the cycle. His 10th hit on the week came in game two on a double for his sixth hit of the day.

Weller and the rest of the Titans gear up for the final week of CCIW play with a return trip to Wheaton Wednesday, April 29, before a three-game date with North Park University over the weekend.
