GREENWOOD, IND. - The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team landed three on the College Sports Communicators All-District list, announced by the organization Tuesday, June 2. Sophomore AJ Weller (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) and junior Luca Morelli (Lincolnshire, Ill.-Adlai E. Stevenson) earn the first Academic All-District honors of their careers, while senior Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) garners the award for the second time.

Weller boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA in finance as he led the Titans offensively this season. The sophomore started in all 40 games for the Green and White this season at shortstop and had 19 multi-hit games. Weller led IWU with 66 hits, 15 doubles, and six triples. He also brought in 38 runs and was a Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection.

Morelli holds a 3.86 GPA in finance at Illinois Wesleyan. The junior started in 33 games behind the plate and held a batting average of .277. Morelli notched 31 hits, including 11 doubles, and drove in 21 runs. Perhaps more impressive was Morelli's defense as the Titan's starting catcher. The Lincolnshire, Ill. product caught 17 base runners stealing and had a .980 fielding percentage.

Shamhart is the Titan's only repeat CSC Academic All-District honoree. The senior graduated earlier this month with a 3.58 GPA in business. Starting nine games on the mound for the Green and White this season, Shamhart struck out 34 and ended the season with a 4-2 record. Shamhart also topped the team with 50.2 innings.

Weller advances to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the team set to be released Tuesday, June 23.
