BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team will make the trip to Elmhurst University for the regular season finale Saturday, April 25. Action is set to begin at 11 a.m. and will serve as the first leg of a doubleheader with the Titan men's lacrosse team at Langhorst Field. A win over the Bluejays would grant IWU a spot in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament next week.

Senior Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) led the offense with four points on three goals and an assist. Four Titans tallied two points. Sophomore Sophie Shore (St. Peters, Mo.-Francis Howell Central) is second on the squad with 36 points. Her 14 helpers are tied for second alongside fellow sophomore Maddie Gibson (Fenton, Mo.-Rockwood Summit), while her 22 goals sit third. Newton rounds out the top-three with 35 points, aided by a team-high 30 goals.

With 46 ground balls, Newton tops the team in the category. Brown follows with 43, while Shore closely trails with 41. Shore has guided the Green and White defense with 37 caused turnovers. Freshman Allison Vervynck (Overland Park, Kan.-Saint Thomas Aquinas) has stopped 47 shots over 277:15 minutes between the pipes, giving her a .385 win percentage and a 1-2 record.

Illinois Wesleyan will meet Elmhurst (4-10, 0-4 CCIW) on the field for the 10th time, with the Titans owning an 8-1 advantage. The last bout saw the Green and White snag a 20-4 win at Tucci Stadium April 26, 2025. Mia Fiandaca led the team with five goals for a total of five points and eight caused turnovers, while Gibson totaled a team-best two assists. Riepe scooped up a game-high seven ground balls. Newton powered the Titans at the X with eight draw controls, and Lizzie Rymarcsuk logged the win in goal behind seven saves. The Bluejays were most recently bested by Carthage College, 17-0, Wednesday, April 22. Illinois Wesleyan will see a familiar face on the EU sidelines, as Cassandra Jones is in her third season as an assistant coach for the Bluejays. Jones was a member of the Titan women's lacrosse team from 2019-22, twice earning All-CCIW honors, and was a Second Team Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region selection in 2021.
