Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Augie for Final Home Contest of Regular Season

Action set to begin at 6 p.m. inside Tucci Stadium

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team will host Augustana College for the final regular season contest inside Tucci Stadium Wednesday, April 22. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m.

The Green and White (5-9, 1-2 CCIW) most recently fell to Carthage College, 22-2, Saturday, April 18. Seniors Sarah Riepe (Aurora, Ill.-St. Francis) and Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) each scored a goal in the game, while sophomore Sophie Shore (St. Peters, Mo.-Francis Howell Central) notched an assist. Riepe led the team with four ground balls and caused turnovers, while four different Titans tallied one draw control. Sophomore Marli Brown (Kansas City, Mo.-Notre Dame de Sion) and freshman Allison Vervynck (Overland Park, Kan.-Saint Thomas Aquinas) each made two saves. 

With 45 points on the season, senior Anelise DiGiovanni (Lockport, Ill.-Lockport Township) holds the team-high in assists with 23, while her 22 goals rank second. Shore is second on the squad with 34 points and 13 assists. Her 21 goals are the third-most on the team. Newton's 31 points put her third, aided by her team-leading 27 goals. Sophomore Maddie Gibson (Fenton, Mo.-Rockwood Summit) is tied with Shore for second, also having recorded 13 helpers. 

Newton also leads the team in ground balls (42) and draw controls (60), while her 29 caused turnovers have her sitting second. Shore's 34 forced miscues are the most on the team, and she ranks second with 37 ground balls. Shore and Riepe are tied for second with 35 draw controls apiece. Riepe rounds out the top three in ground balls and caused turnovers, entering Wednesday with 36 and 25, respectively. 

In goal for IWU, Brown holds the team-high in saves with 107 across 592:45 minutes of action. She brings in a record of 4-7 and a .384 save percentage. Vervynck has added 43 saves over 247:15 minutes between the pipes. 

The Titans will take on the Vikings for the 13th time, with the Green and White holding an 8-4 lead all-time. Illinois Wesleyan bested Augie (8-6, 1-2 CCIW) 19-8 in the most recent matchup April 9, 2025. Gibson led the offense with six points on four goals and two assists. Mia Fiandaca notched the team-lead in goals with five, while Avery Setzler added a team-best three assists. Fiandaca and Setzler also led the Titans with five ground balls apiece, while Fiandaca and Riepe each finished with four draw controls. Newton caused a team-best four turnovers, and Lizzie Rymarcsuk logged the win in goal behind nine saves. Augustana most recently fell at Carroll, 22-4, Saturday, April 18.
