Women’s Lacrosse Welcomes DePauw for Tuesday Contest

Titans take on Tigers at 4 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team hosts DePauw University for a Tuesday bout, March 10. Action is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. inside Tucci Stadium. 

The Titans (3-3) most recently fell at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Saturday, March 7. Sophomore Sophie Shore (St. Peters, Mo.-Francis Howell Central) and senior Sarah Riepe (Aurora, Ill.-St. Francis) led the offense with two goals apiece. Shore also tallied team-highs with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) notched a team-best six draw controls. Sophomore Marli Brown (Kansas City, Mo.-Notre Dame de Sion) led the team with seven saves in the first 30 minutes in goal. 

Senior Anelise DiGiovanni (Lockport, Ill.-Lockport Township) leads the team with 25 points, which ranks 28th in Division III. Her 13 assists also lead the Titans, and sit 16th nationally. Shore sits second on the squad with 22 points, while Newton rounds out the top-three with 17 points. Newton and Shore top the team in goals, having recorded 15 and 13, respectively. Sophomore Lillie Keeton (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) is tied with Shore for the second-most goals, also having notched 13 scores on the season. Shore follows DiGiovanni in the assists column with nine helpers, while sophomore Maddie Gibson's (Fenton, Mo.-Rockwood Summit) eight rounds out the trio.

Newton paces the team with 25 ground balls, 34 draw controls, and 21 caused turnovers. Riepe follows with 17 scoops, while Shore closely trails with 16. In the draws column, Shore and Riepe are tied for second with 21 draw controls apiece. The same two also sit behind Newton in caused turnovers. Shore's 18 caused turnovers are good for second, followed by 11 from Riepe.

In goal for the Green and White, Brown holds a team-high of 39 saves in 210 minutes with a .404 save percentage. Freshman Allison Vervynck (Overland Park, Kan.-Saint Thomas Aquinas) has notched 150 minutes in goal and has made 24 saves, good for a .421 save percentage.

IWU will meet DePauw (1-4) on the field for the eighth time, with the Tigers claiming an 18-3 win in the last bout March 26, 2025. DiGiovanni, Riepe, and Carleigh Fountain all scored goals in the game for the Titans. Newton tallied a team-high four draw controls, while Newton and Riepe each notched two caused turnovers. Lizzie Rymarcsuk made a team-high 13 saves in goal. DU most recently fell to Hope College, 20-11, Saturday, March 7.
