BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After inclement weather canceled its spring break opener, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team will make the trip to Methodist University for a date with the Monarchs (6-3) Wednesday, March 18. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m. ET inside Monarch Stadium.

The Titans (3-4) look to snap a two-game losing skid against MU. Illinois Wesleyan most recently fell to DePauw University, 24-5, Tuesday night, March 10. Sophomore Maddie Gibson (Fenton, Mo.-Rockwood Summit) led the offense with four points on an even split between goals and assists. Senior Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) notched a team-high nine draw controls, while sophomore Marli Brown (Kansas City, Mo.-Notre Dame de Sion) recorded team-bests of four ground balls and a career-high 16 saves.

Leading the offense is senior Anelise DiGiovanni (Lockport, Ill.-Lockport Township) with 29 points. Her 16 assists sit atop the team and rank 17th across Division III, while her 13 goals are tied for third alongside sophomore Sophie Shore (St. Peters, Mo.-Francis Howell Central). Shore is second on the squad with 22 points, followed by 18 from Newton and Gibson. Newton's 16 goals are a team-high, while sophomore Lillie Keeton (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) ranks second with 14. Gibson follows DiGiovanni in the assists column with 10 helpers on the season, while Shore closely trails with nine.

Newton leads the team in ground balls (26), caused turnovers (21), and draw controls (43), with her average of three caused turnovers per game ranking 28th nationally. Senior Sarah Riepe (Aurora, Ill.-St. Francis) and Brown follow Newton with 19 and 18 ground balls, respectively. At the draw, Riepe's 23 draw controls are good for second, and Shore rounds out the top three with 21. The same duo follow Newton in caused turnovers, as Shore has 18 forced errors on the season, while Riepe enters Monday's match with 12.

In goal for the Green and White, Brown brings in a record of 2-4 behind 55 saves and a .404 save percentage over the span of 270 minutes. Freshman Allison Vervynck (Overland Park, Kan.-Saint Thomas Aquinas) has spent 150 minutes between the pipes, making 24 saves on a .421 save percentage.
