BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team heads to Dubuque, Iowa for the NCAA Regionals hosted by Loras College, Friday-Saturday Feb. 27-28. Day one's action is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The Titans are coming off of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships, Feb. 14, where they were led by all-conference wrestler, freshman Tyson Zvonar (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East), who placed third at 133 pounds. Zvonar's efforts also earned him a spot in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Association's (NWCA) regional rankings, released Feb. 20. The freshman is currently ranked No. 8 in Region VI. Junior heavyweight Alexander Jackson (Harvey, Ill.-Bremen) finished in fourth place, narrowly missing the podium. Freshmen Trey Dunning (Mishawaka, Ind.-Mishawaka) and Brady Mouser (Bloomington, Ill.-Tri-Valley) also placed for the Green and White at 197 and 125 pounds, respectively.

Last season at the regional meet, IWU picked up four wins including a pin from then-sophomore 141-pounder Austin Johnston (Normal, Ill.-Normal West). Johnston sits at 15-5 this year and can collect his 50th career win over the weekend. The junior currently holds a 49–33 career mark and is ranked sixth in Region VI by the NWCA.

In addition to Mouser, Zvonar, Johnston and Dunning, IWU will compete 149-pound sophomore Ameer Alamawi (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central), freshman 157-pounder Silas Oberholtzer (Lake Barrington, Ill.-Barrington), and 165-pound sophomore Evan Carel (Hamilton, Ill.-Hamilton). Freshman Eli Moore (Highland Park, Ill.-Highland Park) and sophomore Lucas Blanton (Dixon, Ill.-Amboy) round out the Illinois Wesleyan lineup at 174 and 184 pounds, respectively.

Action from Dubuque, Iowa is scheduled for 10 a.m. Links to the results and stream can be found on the men's wrestling schedule page on iwusports.com.
