BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team looks to grab its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin win as it welcomes Carthage College to Neis Field on Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 3. The Titans go into this weekend's contest with a 4-0-5 overall and a 0-0-1 CCIW record.
IWU opened CCIW play at No. 13 North Central with a 2-2 draw. Junior Taylor Haun (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) scored her third goal of the season and classmate Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.-Home School) added a second-half tally to secure the draw.
Illinois Wesleyan sits tied for third in the CCIW in scoring average (2.222) and third in total shots with 147. Wiley is tied for first in the conference with Elmhurst's Lauren Nevins in shots (35) with an average of 3.89 per contest. Senior Ava Mapes (Golden, Colo.-Lakewood) still sits second in the CCIW in goals with eight, good for 21st-most nationally.
The Green and White leads Carthage 20-11-5 in the all-time series with a 12-5-3 home record. However, IWU has dropped the past two contests against the Firebirds with the last home contest in 2024 ending 2-0. Carthage comes to Bloomington with a 2-3-5 overall record and a 0-0-1 CCIW mark. The Firebirds began CCIW play last weekend against Millikin University with a 2-2 draw. More recently, CC suffered a 4-1 setback against Illinois Institute of Technology, Sept. 28.
