D3hoops Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - One day removed from earning the second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week award of her career, senior Sawyer White (Downers Grove, Ill.-Montini Catholic) nabbed a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week Tuesday, Jan. 6. It is the first national team appearance of the senior's career.

The national team of the week recognized performances from Dec. 15 through Jan. 4. White is the first Titan to earn national honors since Ava Bardic (Feb. 3, 2025), while she is the 11th individual in program history to garner recognition. She is the 16th all-time selection for IWU, with Lauren Huber (four) and Kendall Sosa (three) notching multiple nods.

White helped lead Illinois Wesleyan to two top-20 wins in a three-game stretch, Dec. 28-Jan. 3. She averaged 18.8 points, 4.3 assists, 3.5 steals, and 2.5 rebounds as IWU went 2-1 with wins over No. 19 Bethel (78-76) and No. 14 Carroll (85-52).

The senior point guard tied the program's career steals record with three thefts as part of a 15-point showing against No. 19 Bethel, Dec. 28. White added six assists and two rebounds, while shooting 5-of-12 from the field.

Her best performance of the stretch came against 14th-ranked Carroll in a key conference clash between the league front runners. White totaled a career-high 37 points with eight steals, four assists, and three boards. The Downers Grove, Ill. native shot 13-for-19 from the field, 8-for-11 from three, and 3-for-3 at the free throw line. White's 37-piece is the most points by a Titan since Kendall Sosa dropped 47 against Millikin during the 2020-21 season, while her eight triples are the most since Mallory Heydorn versus Augustana during the 2008-09 season. Additionally, it is the second-highest point total in the CCIW this season. Her 37 points are the most in a league contest since Carroll's Natalie Gricius put up 37 at Elmhurst Feb. 22, 2025.

White's outstanding four-game stretch, which included 15 steals, pushed her career total to 305. She is second on the NCAA Division III active steals leader list, while she is one of eight current student-athletes across all NCAA divisions to eclipse 300 career steals.

Illinois Wesleyan is back on the hardwood Saturday, Jan. 10, inside the Shirk Center. IWU hosts North Park University for a 2 p.m. tip.
