FOUND A WAY: IWU had to overcome its lowest scoring half since the 2024 CCIW Tournament Championship game to upend Millikin, Jan. 21. The Green and White was limited to just 22 points in the first half against the Big Blue, shooting just 6-for-26 over the first 20 minutes. Illinois Wesleyan's first-half scoring performance was its lowest since posting a 22-point opening period against Elmhurst Feb. 24, 2024. EU edged out IWU, 68-64, in that contest to claim the CCIW Tournament title. Furthermore, twenty-two points also marks Illinois Wesleyan's lowest scoring half in a victory since the Titans topped Millikin, Feb. 1, 2017. The Titans outscored the Big Blue, 43-29, in the second half to secure a 65-53 victory on the road.
SUFFOCATING DEFENSE: The Titans have made it hard on opponents to score this season as IWU is limiting opponents to 65.9 points per game, good for 30th-best across Division III. Illinois Wesleyan's stingy defense has come behind the most blocks per game (6.8) and the 10th-best field goal percentage defense (38.2) in the country.
THAT DIDN'T TAKE LONG!: In Illinois Wesleyan's win over Augustana, Jan. 7, Nathan Boldt broke the program's modern day statistical record with five blocks. Thanks to social media and a tremendous alumni following, Boldt's five swats were believed to be the most since 12,764 days prior when David Caldwell notched eight rejections against Wheaton. Well, just two weeks since Boldt's performance, Mason Funk rejected five shots against Millikin, tying for the most blocks by a Titan in more than 25 years.
IT'S A BLOCK PARTY: The Titans have not only been the best shot-blocking team in Division III with 116 blocks (6.8 bpg), but this year's squad is one of the greatest shot-altering squads in IWU history. Through 17 games, this year's total ranks as the fourth-most in program history. Additionally, IWU's 116 rejections are the most since the 1990-91 squad.

The junior has stepped into the role and emerged as one of the top orchestrators in Division III. Niego has served as a steady hand all season long with 75 assists to 20 turnovers. His 3.75 assist-to-turnover ratio leads the CCIW and is fifth-best nationally.
