BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University swimming and diving teams took on Illinois College and Millikin University, Friday, Jan. 16 inside Fort Natatorium. The women's team came out victorious over Millikin, 144-42, and Illinois College, 129-67, behind six individual titles, while the men's team fell short against Millikin (87-78) and IC (110-66). The IWU men closed with five first place performances.

"I am proud of our performance tonight," Illinois Wesleyan Director of Swim & Dive Dan Lloyd said. "We have been training extremely hard and have not rested for any of our competitions, which will pay off when we finally taper for conference. It is always great to compete at home and the crowd provided a lot of energy."

Senior Kayleigh Kuschewski (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia) wrapped up the first of two wins of the day for the Titans in the women's 200-yard individual medley as she touched in at 2:20:08. Junior Sam Borre (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James B. Conant) followed Kuschewski closely, finishing at 2:21:15, over a second better than her seed time. Kuschewski tallied another win in the women's 100-yard breaststroke. The Batavia, Ill. native touched the wall at 34:97 with fellow senior Natalie Porter (Danville, Ill.-Danville) logging a second-place finish.

Junior Claire Paule (Godfrey, Ill.-Alton) took the top-spot in the 500-freestyle, outlasting five others. Paule clocked in with a time of 5:34.15.

The Titan women also won a pair of relays. In the 200-yard medley, Kuschewski, Borre, freshman Ellen Hoover (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville Central), and freshman Abby Schnittker (Lombard, Ill.-Willowbrook) finished in 1:56:58, four seconds ahead of second-place IC.

Sophomore Tate Thomas (Joliet, Ill.-Joliet West) took one of two victories for the Titan men. The Joliet, Ill. native pulled out the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.86. Fellow sophomore Ben Huk (Des Plaines, Ill.-Maine West) followed suit with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke. He finished with a time of 1:04.37, topping the field by over two seconds.

The Green and White returns to the pool Saturday Jan. 24 in Crawfordsville, Ind. The men's team will participate in a triangular meet against Wabash College and Division I Valparaiso University. The women will duel Valparaiso, with action set for 12 p.m.
