BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball team moved up a spot to No. 16 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, announced Monday, Jan 12. The Titans accrued 251 points and are one of two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schools in the top-25, as Carroll sits in the No. 20 spot.
The Green and White enter the week at 10-4 overall and 5-0 inside the CCIW. The Titans won their lone CCIW bout of the week handling North Park University, 77-39, Saturday Jan. 10. Illinois Wesleyan was led by freshman standout Caitlin Leyden (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) who tallied 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. Leyden added four rebounds and a pair of blocks.
New York University (617 points, 18 first-place votes) topped the rankings as the top-five teams remained steady in the latest poll. Scranton claimed second with six first-place votes and 603 points, while UW-Oshkosh (570), Smith (536), and Johns Hopkins (533) rounded out the top-five.
The Titans cap off their three game homestand Wednesday, Jan. 14 as they welcome Millikin University to the Shirk Center with tip off set for 7 p.m.
