Senior earns second honor of season, 11th of career

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second time this season, and the 11th time in her decorated career, senior Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) of the 10th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week, announced by the league Monday, Sept. 22.

French propelled the IWU offense to a 4-0 week, which included three sweeps, to continue the program's historic start as it moved to 11-0. For the week, the Romeoville, Ill. native totaled 62 kills on a monstrous .402 attack percentage, as the outside hitter averaged 4.77 kills per set. The standout senior also posted 37 digs, an average of 2.85 per set, eight aces, averaging 0.62 per set, two blocks, and two assists. Her strong weekend at home landed her IWU Tournament II MVP honors after guiding the Green and White to three wins. 

Starting the week with the Titans' CCIW opener Wednesday night, Sept. 17, French posted 11 kills on a .348 clip, nine digs, and two aces in the sweep at Wheaton. Opening the home tournament with a sweep of Wittenberg Friday night, Sept. 19, French dazzled, as she finished with 18 kills on a monstrous .485 clip, four aces, six digs, and a block for a total of 23.5 points. Downing Rose-Hulman in straight sets Saturday, Sept. 20, French posed 15 kills while hitting .467, committing just one attack error to go along with nine digs. Closing out the week with a four set victory over Coe later Saturday night, French tallied 17 kills while hitting .317, and added 13 digs to complete a double-double performance, two assists, two aces, and a block. 

French and the Titans return to CCIW play Wednesday night, Sept. 24, as they host Elmhurst University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside Shirk Center.
