BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team is set to welcome Eureka College for its home opener under the lights at Neis Field Wednesday, Sept 3. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Titans started their season on the right foot going 2-0 with wins over Spalding University and Centre College at the JR Hoe Invitational in Louisville, Ky.

IWU picked up its first win against Spalding Friday night, August 29, 5-1. The match featured five goals from the Titans, two coming from junior forward Matthew Perchik (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier). Sophomore Ben Lyons (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) also scooted one into the back of the net and recorded an assist. Freshman Daniel Smazil (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) and Dillon Baker (Coal Valley, Ill.-Moline) each recorded their first career goals.

In the 2-1 win over Centre, Lyons cashed in on a 1-1 opportunity tucking in a right footer inside the post. Junior Joey Rodino (Palatine, Ill.-Fremd) delivered the game winning goal when he connected on a volley in the 19th minute.

Eureka enters the matchup 1-1 on the young campaign with a 14-0 win over Kuyper College on Friday, August 29 and a 2-1 loss at Benedictine University Sunday, August 31. The 14 goals over Kuyper set a program record for largest margin of victory.
