BLOOMINGTON, Ill.  - The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team saw three student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team Tuesday, June 3. Junior pitchers Will Davidsmeier (Virginia, Ill.-Beardstown), Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest), and Jake Pullam (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) pulled in the honors. Davidsmeier grabs the award for the second straight season, while Shamhart and Pullam are first-time awardees.

Davidsmeier made 12 appearances on the bump this season, tallying 11 starts. He held a 5.20 earned run average with a 3-3 record. He chewed up a team-high 62.1 innings and tied for the team lead with 53 strikeouts. Davidsmeier tossed seven innings of two-hit ball against DePauw, April 26, fanning seven in his best outing of the year.

Making 15 appearances on the mound, Shamhart logged 46.2 innings for the Titans. He struckout 29 and carried a 1-2 record. He was a steady presence out of the bullpen in the back half of the year, throwing two hitless frames in a lopsided win over Blackburn, April 29.

Pullam, a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Year candidate, led the Titans with a 2.65 earned run average. He posted a 7-0 record over 12 appearances, including 10 starts, and fanned 53 over 57.2 innings of work. He held opponents to a .223 batting average and added two saves alongside a 1.16 WHIP. The Palatine, Ill. native ranks 72nd nationally in ERA. A First Team All-CCIW selection, Pullam was recognized as a Third Team All-Region selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Pullam will move forward on the Academic All-America ballot. CSC will unveil its Academic All-America baseball teams for the 2025 season Tuesday, July 1.
