BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University baseball sophomore John Philip Ferraro (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) picked up his second accolade in as many days as he was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week Wednesday, April 9. He is the first Titan to be named to the national team of the week since Dominic DiLello garnered the honor in the 2022 season. 

Ferraro had a lead role in the series sweep against Elmhurst this past weekend, April 5-6, along with a single game against Millikin last Thursday, April 3. In five Titan wins, the sophomore had a one two-bagger and ripped three home runs. 

Going 9-for-17 on the week, Ferraro started in four of five games and notched a slugging percentage of 1.118. The sophomore garnered 10 RBIs and five runs to end the week on a high note. 

Ferraro hit a home run in three of the four games he played in, starting off with a two-run slugger at Millikin in the top of the first, powered one past right field to tack on an insurance run in game one against EU, and then homered a three-run homer to right field to take the lead in game two against Elmhurst. 

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll is in its fourteenth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations by their school's sports information directors. This is the eighth Team of the Week installment of the 2025 season.
The Titans are back in action today, April 9, against non-conference foe Monmouth College. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Jack Horenberger Field.
