Four Titans in Top-10 as Women’s Golf Wins Wartburg Spring Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa - The 17th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team used a strong second round to climb atop the leaderboard and win the Wartburg Spring Invite Saturday, April 5. The Titans carded a final round 301 as four players finished in the top-10 individually.

Illinois Wesleyan won the event with a 36-hole total of 587, besting 10th-ranked St. Kate's by eight strokes as the Wildcats finished at 595. Grinnell grabbed third with a score of 600, while the IWU 'B' team placed 10th (645).

Senior Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) took home a runner-up finish with an even 144, one stroke behind St. Kate's Grace Petzold. Senior Jacque O'Neill (Harbor Springs, Mich.-Harbor Springs) tied for fourth with a score of 147, while senior Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) and freshman Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy) brought home a share of eighth at 149. Zera carded IWU's best round of the day, a one-over 73, to climb 18 spots on the player leaderboard.

IWU is back in action next weekend, April 12-13, as host of the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Course.
