AUSTIN, Texas - For the first time in Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball history, two Titans were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-America in the same season as seniors Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) and Mallory Powers (Amboy, Ill.-Amboy) garnered the distinction Wednesday, April 16. Huber was voted CSC First Team Academic All-America, while Powers pulled in a third team selection.

Huber repeats as a recipient of the prestigious honor, moving up from a second team award a season ago, while Powers is a first-time honoree. Additionally, Huber is just the second Titan in program history to earn multiple CSC Academic All-America awards. She joins Terri Friedman, who collected honors in 1981 and 1982.

Furthermore, IWU's all-time Academic All-America list now sits at 164, which is top-25 across NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as top-10 in Division III. The duo joins Nick Roper (men's basketball) and Kannyn Boyd (women's volleyball) as the third and fourth Titans to receive the distinguished honor this academic year. Huber, a biology major with a 3.69 grade point average, capped off a sensational career with a strong senior season. The Lombard, Ill. native reeled in All-America status from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com, was a WBCA All-Star, named D3hoops.com First Team All-Region 8, and was unanimously voted First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Huber broke the program's all-time scoring record, surpassing Traci Butler's mark set nearly 30 years ago, and finished second all-time on the rebounding list. A finalist for the Jostens Trophy for the second straight season, Huber was named an Allstate NACDA Good Works Team nominee. A three-time captain, she was twice named the CCIW's Player of the Week and also garnered D3hoops.com Team of the Week status once. She averaged a team-high 15.0 points per game alongside a team-leading 7.8 rebounds per contest.

A kinesiology and allied health major, Powers carries a 3.53 GPA and is set to attend graduate school for physical therapy following graduation later this spring. One of the most versatile players to ever sport the Green and White, Powers put up 10.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals on average over the course of the year. A D3hoops.com All-Region 8 Third Team selection, Powers garnered First Team All-CCIW honors for the second straight season. She led the team with 61 made three-pointers, was second in rebounding (180), and fourth in assists with 66. Powers, who was named CCIW Player of the Week once during the year, surpassed 1000 career points and 200 career assists in IWU's opening round NCAA Tournament game against Centre, March 7.

The Green and White put together one of the best seasons in program history, as Illinois Wesleyan posted a 28-2 overall record and a 15-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin mark. The Titans, who were ranked top-10 nationally consistently throughout the season, won the CCIW regular season and tournament championships. IWU made its first Sweet Sixteen appearance since 2012 after beginning its season with a 20-game win streak.
