BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After leading the second-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball team to a win over Elmhurst University, escaping an upset bid Saturday, Feb. 1, junior Ava Bardic (Lincolnshire, Ill.-Stevenson) was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, announced by the organization Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Bardic collects the first weekly award of her career, and is the third Titan to receive the national accolade this season. The junior joins Lauren Huber (Dec. 2) and Mallory Powers (Jan. 28).

The Lincolnshire, Ill. native led Illinois Wesleyan to a hard-fought, 64-61, win at Elmhurst, Feb. 1, to push IWU's record to 19-0 overall and 10-0 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play. The win also matched the Titans' best start to a season since the 2008-09 season.

Bardic poured in a game-high 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting on the Bluejays home court. She hit 6-of-7 three-point tries, becoming the 13th player in program history to drain six-or-more threes in a game. Additionally, her six three-pointers are tied for the most by a player in the CCIW this season. She added five rebounds, a steal, and a block in the win. Bardic's rejection came in the final seconds as she denied EU's game-tying three-point try. With IWU trailing 15-14 going into the second period, Bardic erupted for 13 points before the half to push the Green and White ahead, 34-29, at halftime.

Illinois Wesleyan returns to the courts Wednesday night, Feb. 5, in a crucial CCIW clash, as IWU hosts Carroll University for a 7 p.m. tipoff. Carroll trails the Titans in conference standings with a 9-1 league record, with the only loss coming against Illinois Wesleyan earlier this season.
