BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - A pair of road wins in the final week of the regular season saw the Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball team move up one spot into third in the D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll released Monday night, Feb. 24. IWU received 561 points.
NYU's reign atop the the rankings continued as the Violets reeled in all 25 first-place votes to finish with 625 points. Bowdoin jumped one spot into No. 2 with 589 points followed by IWU (561). Scranton slipped to No. 4 with 549 points, while Whitman rounded out the top-five with 511 points.
Illinois Wesleyan posted a 79-55 win at North Central, Feb. 19, before finishing out the regular season with a 65-54 victory at Augustana, Feb. 22. With the wins the Titans claimed the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season Championship outright and completed league play with a 15-1 record. IWU carries a 24-1 overall record into this week's CCIW Tournament.
The Green and White will host the semifinal and championship rounds of the league tournament inside the Shirk Center this Friday-Saturday, Feb. 28-March 1. Second-seeded Carroll will open up play in Friday's 5 p.m. semifinal game, with the top-seeded Titans set to play at 7:30 p.m.
