Jackson Earns First CCIW Weekly Award in Program History

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University men's sophomore wrestler Alexander Jackson (Harvey, Ill.-Bremen) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Wrestler of the Week Tuesday, Feb. 11, after turning in a second-place finish at the Brown Terrell UD Invite last weekend. Jackson is the first Titan in program history to earn a weekly award.

As a dual-sport athlete, Jackson joined the team late following the football season and has made quick work in his two mat appearances this season. Jackson earned the program's first CCIW Wrestler of the Week honor after posting a 3-1 record at 285 pounds at the Brown Terrell UD Invite Saturday, Feb. 8.

Jackson won his first three matches on Saturday all by way of pins (0:39, 1:58, 1:16) before taking his first loss of the season in the championship match to place second in the tournament.

The sophomore carries a 5-1 record into this weekend's CCIW Championships Saturday, Feb. 15 in Decatur, Ill. Millikin University will serve as the meet host with competition set for a noon start in the Griswold Center.
