Four Titans Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Bardouniotis, Boyd, Feeney, and Tellor earn accolade

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team saw four student-athletes land College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, announced by the organization Tuesday, Dec. 16. Seniors Kannyn Boyd (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.-Mt. Pleasant) and Hannah Tellor (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township), junior Sophia Feeney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), and sophomore Alex Bardouniotis (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) represented the Titans, tying last season's total for the most in program history.

Boyd earns the award for the third time in her career, and her second while at IWU. After transferring to Illinois Wesleyan in January 2024, Boyd immediately made an impact for the Titans. She earned CSC Third Team Academic All-America honors last season, becoming the first women's volleyball player at IWU to earn the honor since 1989. A First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin awardee this season, Boyd led the Green and White defense in its historic season. A co-captain, she finished with a team-leading 461 digs, averaging 4.52 per set. She also contributed 112 assists and 23 aces. Boyd was twice named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week this season, and earned American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Week honors Sept. 2, marking the first national weekly nod of her career. An elementary education major donning a 3.76 GPA, Boyd helped lead the Titans to unprecedented heights all while student teaching for the duration of the season. 

Tellor picks up her second academic all-district accolade after an impressive senior season. The Titan co-captain was a key part of the heavy net presence for the Titans, as she contributed on both sides of the game. A First Team All-CCIW honoree for the second straight season, Tellor finished third on the team in kills with 219, an average of 2.03 per set, doing so an efficient .313 attack percentage. The senior led Illinois Wesleyan with 71 blocks, averaging 0.66 per set, and added 87 digs, 28 aces, and five assists. Her all-around effort landed her AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention honors. Majoring in kinesiology and allied health, Tellor holds a 3.82 GPA, and will attend graduate school to pursue a career in physical therapy.

Earning the honor for the second straight season, Feeney had a remarkable junior campaign for the Titans. Completing the co-captain trio, Feeney helped orchestrate Illinois Wesleyan's dominant offense all season. Part of a 6-2 rotation, the Bloomington, Ill. native totaled 629 assists, an average of 5.82 per set, and was named the CCIW Setter of the Year, marking the first Titan to earn the honor since its inception in 2023. Feeney also tallied 38 aces, nine kills, and 177 digs. The junior was twice named the CCIW Setter of the Week during the season, as well as collecting First Team All-CCIW honors for the first time. Feeney boasts a 3.86 GPA as a marketing major.

Bardouniotis reels in her first academic award after a strong sophomore season. Earning AVCA All-America Honorable Mention status, Bardouniotis finished second on the heavy-hitting squad with 327 kills, an average of 3.03 per set. She was also second in digs, only trailing Boyd, after accumulating 334, averaging 3.09 per set. Bardouniotis chipped in 51 aces, 29 blocks, and 16 assists on the season, and was twice named the CCIW Hitter of the Week. The St. Charles, Ill. native also collected First Team All-CCIW, AVCA First Team All-Region, and NCAA Bloomington Regional All-Tournament Team honors this year. A communications and journalism major, Bardouniotis holds a 3.83 GPA and is an active participant on the Titan streaming network, including her role as a color analyst on the IWU men's volleyball live streams.

Together, the quartet led Illinois Wesleyan to a historic 2025 season. The Titans finished with an overall record of 28-3, marking the most wins under head coach Kim Nelson-Brown, and the most since 1989. Amongst many achievements, IWU made its second straight appearance in the NCAA Regional Championship, and the third in program history. All four will advance to the Academic All-America ballot, with those teams scheduled to be announced Tuesday, Jan. 13.
