CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second time this season, sophomore Alex Bardouniotis (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) of the sixth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week, announced by the league Monday, Oct. 27.

Bardouniotis makes it five weekly hitter awards for the Titans this season, as she adds to her accolade received Oct. 6, while Taylor French has rung in three honors (Sept. 8, Sept. 12, and Oct. 13). Additionally, it marks the 10th weekly award in any category for IWU, as Hannah Tellor (defensive, Oct. 20), Sophia Feeney (setter, Oct. 13), Alex Bardouniotis (hitter, Oct. 6), Eleanor Palmer (defensive, Oct. 6), Alysa Lawton (defensive, Sept. 8), and Kannyn Boyd (defensive, Sept. 8) have all earned the accolade.

Bardouniotis led the Illinois Wesleyan offense to a 2-0 week, including a sweep over league foe Millikin Friday night, Oct. 24, to claim at least a share of the CCIW Regular Season Championship and hosting rights to the conference tournament. For the week, Bardouniotis totaled 20 kills, an average of 3.33 per set on a .244 attack percentage, 21 digs, averaging 3.50 per set, three aces, two blocks, and an assist.

Opening the week with a sweep at No. 13 WashU Tuesday night, Oct. 21, Bardouniotis posted a 10-kill, 11-dig double-double performance, while adding two aces, an assist, and a block to her stat line. The sophomore followed the performance with 10 kills on a .364 clip along with 10 kills, a block, and an ace at Millikin.

Bardouniotis and the Titans return to action Wednesday night, Oct. 29, as they host Carroll for a 7 p.m. start inside Shirk Center.
