Men’s Hoops Opens Year 16th in D3hoops Top-25

Titans one of two CCIW schools in the rankings

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team was listed 16th in the D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll released Wednesday, Oct. 22. The Titans nabbed 227 points in the opening ranking.

Trinity (Conn.) topped the poll with 23-of-25 top-spot votes and 623 points. Randolph-Macon followed with 537 points and one No. 1 vote, while Emory (529), Tufts (520), and WashU (499) rounded out the top-five. Redlands, who reeled in the lone other first-place vote, is sixth with 492 points. Illinois Wesleyan is one of two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin programs in the preseason rankings as Carthage sits No. 8 (396 points).

Overall, IWU is scheduled to go toe-to-toe with No. 5 WashU, No. 8 Carthage, and No. 11 Chicago, with a potential matchup with No. 21 Maryville (Tenn.) on the table as part of the Sikma Hall of Fame Invitational, Nov. 15. Additionally, the Titans have games scheduled against Yeshiva, Hamilton, and Wisconsin Lutheran who are all in the receiving votes category. Also pulling in votes is UW-Oshkosh, another participant in this year's Sikma Hall of Fame Invitational.

The Green and White begins the season as host to the Sikma Hall of Fame Invitational, Nov. 14-15. IWU begins the year against Illinois College at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, before facing either UW-Oshkosh or No. 21 Maryville (Tenn.).
