Fourth different Titan to earn defensive honor this season

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team saw its fourth different student-athlete earn College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week status, as senior Hannah Tellor (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) earned the honor Monday, Oct. 20.

Tellor is the fourth Titan to earn the defensive honor this season, and the sixth different student-athlete to reel in a weekly honor on a squad that has totaled nine CCIW accolades. The Metamora, Ill. native, who earns the second defensive honor of her career, joins the long list of Taylor French (hitter, Sept. 8, Sept. 12, and Oct. 13), Sophia Feeney (setter, Oct. 13), Alex Bardouniotis (hitter, Oct. 6), Eleanor Palmer (defensive, Oct. 6), Alysa Lawton (defensive, Sept. 8), and Kannyn Boyd (defensive, Sept. 8), all who have been a weekly award winner this season. 

Tellor led the Illinois Wesleyan defense to a 3-1 week, including a key win in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin race, as the Titans defeated North Central College in four sets. For the week, Tellor totaled 37 kills, an average of 2.31 per set, doing so on a .287 clip, 13 blocks, an impressive average of 0.81 per set, 13 digs, five aces, and an assist. 

Opening the week with a sweep of North Central Wednesday, Oct. 15, Tellor finished the match with six kills, four blocks, two aces, and a pair of digs, as the Green and White defense held the Cardinals to a 0.010 attack percentage, including one set at sub-zero. Tellor followed with 11 kills on a .276 clip, five digs, four blocks, and two aces in the five-set contest at No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Friday night, Oct. 17. The senior's most dominant performance came in the five-set victory over Cornell College Saturday, Oct. 18, as she posted 15 kills on a monstrous .419 clip, five blocks, four digs, one assist, and an ace, as the Titan defense held the Rams to a .157 hitting percentage. Tellor finished the week with five kills and a pair of digs in the sweep of University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon, limiting the Pointers to a .145 showing.

Tellor and the Titans travel to WashU Tuesday, Oct. 21. Action will begin at 7 p.m. at The Athletic Complex.
