CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second straight week, the seventh-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team landed two student-athletes on the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Players of the Week list, announced by the organization Monday Oct. 13. Senior Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) was named the CCIW Hitter of the Week, while junior Sophia Feeney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) earned CCIW Setter of the Week honors.

Feeney reels in her first weekly accolade of the season, and the second of her career, as she last received the award Oct. 7, 2024. French notches the 12th Hitter of the Week award in her decorated career, and the third this season, as she previously won it this year on Sept. 8 and Sept. 22. The duo add to the long list of Titans to receive the honor this season, as Alex Bardouniotis (hitter, Oct. 6), Eleanor Palmer (defensive, Oct. 6), Alysa Lawton (defensive, Sept. 8), and Kannyn Boyd (defensive, Sept. 8) have all been a weekly award winner this season.

The pair led the Illinois Wesleyan offense in a 1-0 week, featuring a key CCIW win over Carthage College Wednesday, Oct. 8. In the four-set win, French posted 16 kills, an average of four per set, on a .262 clip, to go along with six aces, an average of 1.5 per set including crucial service runs to bring home the win. French added 13 digs, an average of 3.25 per set, and a block. Guiding the offense, Feeney totaled 28 assists, an impressive seven per set in the 6-2 rotation, along with five digs. The win boosted the seventh-ranked Titans' resume to 15-1 overall, and a perfect 4-0 in CCIW play.

The Green and White return to the Shirk Center for a crucial CCIW contest Wednesday night, Oct. 15, as it welcomes North Central College for a 7 p.m. bout.
