Women’s Hoops Hits No. 2 in D3hoops Top-25

Titans receive one first-place vote

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After picking up four wins since the last poll, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball team earned a first-place vote and jumped up to No. 2 in the D3hoops.com Top-25 ranking released Monday night, Jan. 6.

NYU held its spot atop the poll with 624 points and 24 first-place votes, while Illinois Wesleyan ranked second with 584 points and one first-place nod. Scranton (578), UW-Oshkosh (541), and Bowdoin (510) round out the top-five.

The Titans hold a 13-0 record, having picked up four wins since the final poll of the 2024 calendar year was revealed back on Dec. 16. Since then, the Green and White defeated No. 19 Chicago, an East Texas Baptist squad that is receiving votes in the current poll, as well as Trinity (Texas) and Wheaton. Additionally, IWU has scored wins over No. 7 UW-Whitewater (84-78), No. 15 Hope (74-65), and No. 16 WashU (67-59), with all three victories coming on the road.

Illinois Wesleyan continues College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play Wednesday, Jan. 8, with a battle with Augustana College. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside the Shirk Center and will see the IWU women's volleyball team recognized at halftime for its tremendous 2024 season that culminated in CCIW regular season and tournament championships along with a run to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
