Men’s Soccer Picked Fifth in CCIW Preseason Poll

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin released its annual Men's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll Thursday, Aug. 22, with the kickoff of the 2024 season just weeks away. Illinois Wesleyan was predicted to finish fifth in the league with 34 points. 

Last year, IWU made a run in the conference tournament sealing the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history, while North Central clinched the regular season title. 

North Central and North Park tied for first in the coaches' poll with two first-place votes and 55 points apiece. Carthage and Wheaton also tied in the third place spot with 52 points each. Carthage took three first place votes while Wheaton received two. 

With IWU sitting in fifth place with 34 points, Millikin follows the Titans in sixth with 28 points. Elmhurst took the seventh slot with 21 points just edging out Carroll who claimed 18 points for eighth. Sitting in ninth is Augustana with nine points. 

Illinois Wesleyan opens the season with its first regular season game on Aug. 30 against Kalamazoo College. Kick off is set for 4 p.m. ET in Kalamazoo, Mich. at MacKenzie Field.
