CRESCENT, Mo. -
In a field that featured three nationally ranked teams and two more receiving votes in the latest coaches poll, the 12th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team came out on top at the WashU Spring Invitational Sunday, April 7. The Titans rode a first-round lead to the win as the Green and White carded a 308 on day two at the par-72, 5745-yard Crescent Farms Golf Club.

IWU was the only school to place five in the top-15, using an all-around effort to best the field by a six-stroke cushion. Illinois Wesleyan posted a two-day total of 604 (296-308). Tournament host and eighth-ranked WashU finished second at 610, powered by Sydney Kuo's medalist performance (72-73=145). The Bears' 'B' team took third at 635, while Macalaster and No. 17 Carleton finished fourth and fifth, respectively with scores of 637 and 639. IWU's 'B' team placed eighth with a 36-hole total of 663, defeating a trio of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin competitors along with Illinois College and a Gustavus Adolphus squad that was receiving votes in the national poll.

Seniors Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) and Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb), along with juniors Jacque O'Neill (Harbor Springs, Mich.-Harbor Springs) and Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) all fired final round scores of 77, while junior Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) carded a 78.

Onsrud placed third at 148, while Thorman tied for fourth with a 150. O'Neill nabbed seventh at 152, with Spinks tying for ninth (155). Ludwig rounded out the Titan 'A' team as she earned a share of 11th with a final score of 157. Onsrud, Thorman, O'Neill, and Spinks garnered all-tournament honors.

Illinois Wesleyan's 'B' team was led by senior Rachel Ducaji (Springfield, Ill.-Sacred Heart Griffin), who tied for 15th. Ducaji recorded a 36-hole total of 159 for the tournament (75-84). Freshman Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) placed 22nd and turned in the 'B' squad's best round of the day (81-81=162).
