BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Claiming the third seed in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team travels to Carthage College for a CCIW Tournament Semifinal contest Wednesday night, May 1. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m. inside Art Keller Field.

The Titans, who tied for a share of second place in the CCIW regular season, enter the contest with a record of 9-7 overall and 4-2 in conference contests. It marks the most wins in a season since 2021, and the sixth season that the Titans will finish with a winning record in the program's 10 years of existence. IWU most recently defeated Augustana College, 22-2, Saturday, April 27, to cap off the regular season. Following the win, a trio of Titans were named to the All-CCIW teams, as senior Britney Maldonado (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James B. Conant) and sophomore Sarah Riepe (Aurora, Ill.-St. Francis) were named to the First Team, while sophomore Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West) garnered Second Team honors.

Maldonado has been a key component of the Titan offense all season. The senior sits second in the nation in assists (72) and assists per game (4.50), while her 118 points and 7.38 points per game average rank fourth across Division III. Her 72 points are the most in a single season in CCIW history, smashing the previous record of 65 set in 2015 by Augustana's Hilary Kargl.

Second on the team in points is junior Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) with 45 composed of 42 goals and three assists. Sophomore Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) closely follows with 43 points on 39 goals and four assists.

Hanson has been dominant at the draw all season, leading the Green and White with 76 draw controls. Fellow sophomore Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) is second with 49, and Fiandaca's 42 rank third on the team. Hanson also leads the Titans in ground balls with 50, while Riepe is second with 43 and junior Avery Setzler (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) closely trails with 41.

As a team, Illinois Wesleyan's defense ranks second nationally in caused turnovers per game, averaging 17.50 per contest. Leading the pack, Hanson has totaled 49 on the season, while Fiandaca and Riepe follow with 37 and 36, respectively.

In goal, junior Bri Kiser (Crown Point, Ind.-Crown Point) leads the Titans in saves (103) and minutes logged (660). Junior Lizzie Rymarcsuk (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Lake Zurich) has been between the posts the last four games, recording 28 saves on a .538 save percentage in 240 minutes en route to a 4-0 record.

IWU and Carthage will meet for the 11th time, with the series sitting at an even five wins for each program. The Firebirds were the winners in the last meeting, winning 16-5 Wednesday, April 10. Setzler led the offense with three points on two goals and an assist, along with three caused turnovers and four draw controls.
