CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University baseball sophomore pitcher Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) earned his third College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week honor, the league announced Monday, April 29. He is the first Titan to earn the conference's weekly pitching award three times in a single season since Cory Lapinski garnered the accolade four times in 2005.

Shamhart picked up weekly honors twice back in March while Illinois Wesleyan has had six Titans earn CCIW weekly honors this season.

In a crucial CCIW win to solidify a spot in the upcoming tournament, Shamhart helped the Titans pick up their eighth straight win with a victory over Carthage, April 23. The sophomore tossed six scoreless innings and struck out a career-high 12 in the game.

For the season, the Oak Park, Ill. native sits third in the conference in ERA at 2.35. He has kept opponents to a .250 batting average and sits at third in the CCIW as well for batters struck out with 59.

Illinois Wesleyan is set to host a non-conference bout with Blackburn College Tuesday, April 30. Game time at Horenberger Field is set for 6 p.m.
