NAPERVILLE, Ill. - After a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin sweep of Augustana College, Illinois Wesleyan University baseball senior Louis Perona (Chicago, Ill.-Lane Tech) received CCIW Hitter of the Week honors Monday afternoon, April, 15. It is the first weekly award of Perona's career, while it is the fifth for the Titans this season. 

Perona had a lead role in the sweep against Augustana this past weekend. The Chicago, Ill. native had a monster week in CCIW play and one non-conference game. With five Titan wins, the senior had a whopping four doubles and one triple and was able to make crucial plays defensively, including a diving catch to end an inning where the opposing team was in scoring position. 

Going 10-for-19 on the week, Perona started in all five games and notched a slugging percentage of .842. The senior garnered four steals to end the week on a high note. 

Perona currently sits second in batting average, third in hits, and fourth in both on-base and slugging percentages in the conference. He also ranks seventh in runs scored.

The Titans are back in CCIW action Wednesday, April 7, at Wheaton College. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
