Illinois Wesleyan (5-7, 0-2 CCIW) enters Saturday off a 16-5 loss to Carthage College Wednesday night, April 10. Junior
Avery Setzler (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) registered a team-high three points by way of two goals and an assist. Sophomore
Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) also scored two goals in the game.
Leading the offense, senior
Britney Maldonado (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James B. Conant) ranks top-10 nationally in four statistical categories. Her 48 assists and four assists per game average both rank third in the nation, while she ranks eighth in points (81) and 10th in points per game (6.75). Entering Saturday, Maldonado is two assists shy of breaking the program's single-season assists record, held by Sam Bidlack with 49 in the 2019 campaign.
Junior
Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) is second on the team with 34 points, with 31 goals and three assists. Fountain closely follows with 30 points on 27 goals and three helpers.
Sophomore
Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West) has recorded a team-high 57 draw controls. Fellow sophomore
Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) is second with 36, and Fiandaca rounds out the top-three with 33. Hanson also leads IWU in ground balls with 36. Junior
Bri Kiser (Crown Point, Ind.-Crown Point) is second with 31 , and Setzler sits third with 26 ground balls to her name.
In goal for the Green and White, Kiser leads the team with 103 saves in 660 minutes of action. Sophomore
Prissilla Tucker (Santa Rosa, Calif.-Windsor) has added six saves in 60 minutes between the iron.
As a team, the Titans rank sixth nationally in caused turnovers per game, averaging 16 per contest. Hanson leads the defense with 32 forced miscues, followed by Fiandaca and Newton with 29 and 21, respectively.
IWU and Carroll will meet for the 12th time, with the series dating back to 2015. The Titans hold a 7-4 advantage, but the Pios took the most recent meeting, 18-7, April 15, 2023. Maldonado posted three points all by way of assists, while Fountain scored two goals in the game. CU most recently fell to University of Chicago, 19-4, Wednesday, April 10, to drop to 10-2 overall, 0-1 in CCIW action.
