Shamhart Selected as CCIW Pitcher of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week Monday, March 4. It marks the first weekly award of the sophomore's career.

The Titans played a three-game series against WashU this past weekend, March 2-3, winning the series two games to one. Shamhart played a role in game two to take the 7-0 win and secure the series.

Shamhart was dominant on the bump as he held the Bears to three hits over six innings of work. He struck out six and limited the Bears to a .150 batting average to help IWU to the series win.

This season, the sophomore holds an ERA of 1.50 over 12 innings, with two starts on the young season. The Oak Park, Ill. native has only allowed 10 hits and has 12 strikeouts to his name.

The Green and White is set to return to the field March 9 in Auburndale, Fla. to kick off the RussMatt Invitational. IWU's spring break trip kicks off with a 12:30 p.m. ET first pitch against Ripon College.
